Caldwell Police Issue Alert on Vehicle Burglaries

Caldwell Police issued a community alert after receiving reports of several vehicle burglaries and attempted vehicle burglaries in different areas of the city “last night.”

In the alert, the department said officers are following up on leads, contacting residents with surveillance cameras, and reviewing available footage. Caldwell Police also asked for help identifying the individuals shown in surveillance images.

The department advised residents to lock their vehicles, remove backpacks, purses, gym bags, and other containers from plain sight, and take wallets, firearms, keys, and electronics inside. It also recommended turning on exterior lighting when possible and checking that garage doors and vehicle doors are secure before going to bed.

Caldwell Police said residents who live near areas west of Kimball, between Linden and Logan, or surrounding neighborhoods should contact the department if they have Ring doorbell or surveillance footage from overnight, between midnight and 5 a.m. The department said even footage that does not capture a crime can help investigators establish timelines and identify suspect vehicles or persons.

The alert added that residents should report suspicious activity immediately.
