Strong Winds Hit Colorado's Front Range Region
The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, Colorado reports that strong winds are affecting the region. In central Gilpin County, the Dakota Hill sensor recorded gusts up to 90 mph. The High Wind Warning now includes the Front Range mountains and foothills, as well as areas covering Fort Collins, Boulder, Golden, and northern Weld County. In the Front Range Mountains and northern foothills, winds are expected to reach 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 90 mph. In Fort Collins, Boulder, Golden, and northern Weld County, winds are forecast to be 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 75 mph. The warning is in effect until midnight and may lead to strong cross winds during driving, unsecured objects being blown around, and patchy blowing snow.
