On July 30 at approximately midnight, Greeley Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 700 block of 15th Street in Greeley, Colorado. Officers found an 18-year-old male victim who was unresponsive. Witnesses performed CPR until law enforcement arrived. The victim was transported to Northern Colorado Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police report that a verbal altercation broke out between the victim and a male suspect in an SUV. During the altercation, the suspect fired multiple rounds, one of which fatally struck the victim.

Investigators identified the suspect as 42-year-old Charles Espinoza. He was taken into custody without incident and will be booked into the Weld County Jail on charges of first-degree murder. Authorities have stated that this was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the community.
